As One Door Closes, Another Opens is a progressive shift towards a positive future through colour and geometry.

The mural draws on the simplest of utilitarian objects – the common door. Not just any door though: this work is inspired by the progressive designs of modernist architect Jean Prouve (France, 1901-1984).

The mural comprises of 2 doors, painted in swathes of saturated colour opening and closing in geometric perpetuity.

In 2022 a 2 panel print of Cooke’s mural was a finalist in the Sulman Prize at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
