‘Gravity System Response’
for Art & About Sydney

Artist – Ash Keating (Aus)

December 2018
The Domain Art Gallery Road, Sydney

Funstudio commissioned Melbourne artist, Ash Keating to create a 100m long outdoor painting for Art & About Sydney. This artwork is situated in the very public Royal Botanic Gardens, just south of the Art Gallery of NSW.  Artist Ash Keating is famous for using fire extinguishers to project and move paint around on walls. Harnessing gravity, his process is organic, gestural and intuitive. Equally spontaneous and considered, Keating builds his illusive compositions, layer upon layer, over several days. This is Ash’s first public work in Sydney.

As part of this project, we also hosted an event on the last two days of installation, inviting to the general public to come and watch Ash in action. The to celebrate the completion of the artwork, we hosted a small intimate event in the park adjacent to the wall for various artists, gallerists, architects, stakeholders, and other creatives from Art & About. Both events were very successful, receiving a lot of positive feedback from attendees. More information on the Art & About website.
